I was an avid movie goer when I lived in India. I liked the Hindi movies more than the Bengali movies though Bengali is my mother tongue. I saw most of the Hindi movies or Bollywood movies released during the 1960's and 1970's when I was in my 20's and 30's. I actually started seeing Hindi movies from mid 1950's when I was about 15 years old. Probably Mr. & Mrs. 55 was the first Hindi movie I saw. I still remember many of the hit Hindi movies released during the period from mid 50's to early 80's when I immigrated to USA. In fact, I miss many of the movies released during this period so much that I have built a collection of DVDs of many of these hit movies. Call it nostalgia! (As far as I am concerned, the period from mid 50's to the 80's was the Golden Age of Hindi cinemas.)
Here are some song and dance sequences from some of the hit movies of my time. I begin with Dev Anand's hit movie Tere Gharke Samne as Dev Sahab passed away only recently. This is my tribute to him, my most favorite Hindi filmstar of yesteryears.
