Hyderabad is the capital of Andhra Pradesh. This 400 years old city is often fondly called the "City of Nawabs". The main attraction of Hyderabad is the Charminar. It is not only a landmark, it actually represents the city as the Statue of Liberty represents New York or the Big Ben represents London. Charminar was built by Mohammed Quli Qutub Shah in 1591, shortly after he had shifted his capital from Golkonda to present day Hyderabad. This huge monument stands right in the middle of the city. Because of its height it is visible from great distances it looks like solid, sturdy monument. But as one comes closer, one observes its delicate intricacies. It is an architectural masterpiece.

Close to the Charminar, stands the huge Mecca Masjid. It is said that this mosque can hold 10,000 people inside. Another tourist attraction in Hyderabad is the Falakuma palace. The palace was home to the last Nizam of Hyderabad and it stores very expensive art objects, tapestries and carpets, in addition to the largest one-person collection of diamonds. Between Hyderabad and its twin city Secunderabad lies the Husain Sagar Lake.

Hyderabad is also famous for culinary art. While in Hyderabad, you must try some of the local cuisine or Hyderabadi cuisine.
