India has almost as many languages as the number of states in the country. And there are hundreds of dialects in the country. Many of these dialects are spoken by the country's indigenous tribes. There are many different tribes in India and they are distributed all over the country. As the tribes are an important and significant part of the population of the country, The Indian Posts and Telegraph Department issued a set of stamps in 1981 to honor some of these important tribes. Clicking on any one of these stamps will bring you to a site that gives a brief description and other informations about each of these four tribes shown on the stamps.
